Even at a young age, the Young Lady Smokebush produces small, cloud-like clusters of purplish-pink "smoke" above its leaves during the summer. Its pale green leaves emerge in late spring, transforming to a stunning gold, and then vibrant shades of orange and red in the fall. 

This plant will tolerate many types of soil i.e. rocky, or dry, but not moist, low areas. It grows best in full sun and will tolerate very light shade.
