Also known as Mother of Thyme, Thymus praecox is a low-growing perennial with aromatic dark green foliage and magenta-red flowers. A fast grower with foliage that turns purple during the cooler seasons. 

Plant in an average to dry, well-drained, calcareous (containing calcium carbonate) soil, in full sun. Tolerates drought and poor soils with low fertility.
