Japanese Red Pine is a dwarf, irregularly shaped pine features dense branching and soft, long blue-green needles that give it a lush appearance. Its bark ranges from orange to red, adding seasonal interest and contrast. Ideal for group plantings, it works well as a low screen in the landscape.
This pine naturally grows irregularly, however, pinching the candles mid-spring will encourage a more compact form. To improve looks and airflow, these plants would benefit from periodic 'combing' (use your fingers) to remove dead material.
