Hellebore, also known as the Lenten Rose, are early bloomers that signal the arrival of spring. They're named for the rose-esque flowers blooming from late winter and lasting six weeks, often coinciding with celebrations of Lent. This variety features deep maroon to burgundy blooms, producing an abundance of striking flowers per plant. The evergreen foliage adds year-round interest with its glossy, lightly serrated leaves.
Thrives in an average to moist, well-drained soil, in partial to full shade. At flowering time, they require consistent moisture but are generally drought tolerant during the non-flowering season. They do not like to be moved once established. Remove damaged leaves in late winter (or before the buds appear), to encourage new growth. Disease resistant.
