More accurately known as Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan' or P. serr. 'Sekiyama', this ornamental cherry tree features a vase-shaped, spreading crown with gracefully ascending branches. In spring, it puts on a stunning display with clusters of double pink flowers. The new foliage emerges in a rich bronze-red hue before maturing to a deep green in summer. As the seasons shift, the leaves turn vibrant shades of yellow to bronze-orange, offering beautiful fall colour.
Considered to be one of the most ornamental of the flowering cherries, this cultivar gives an awesome show of carnation-like flowers, making it a specimen in any landscape. Grown as a tree form or as a grafted standard.
