Also known as Woodward Arborvitae or Woodward Cedar, this evergreen features an open, rounded to oval form with loosely arranged vertical sprays of gray-green foliage. In winter, the foliage softens to a pale green hue. Best used as a foundation plant or in groupings. Not well suited to dry or drought-prone areas and has low tolerance for salt exposure.
A versatile evergreen tolerating heavy pruning, to create geometrical shapes in any formal landscape setting. Protection (burlap wrap) from drying winter winds is still recommended in an exposed location. Damage or stem breakage may occur in the winter from ice and snow accumulation.
