The Diabolo Ninebark features flat-topped clusters of white flowers that add a delicate touch in spring. As the seasons progress, it produces reddish fruit in the fall that gradually matures to brown. The textured purple leaves emerge early in the season and transition to a greenish hue by late summer, offering changing colour interest. Its bark peels in strips, particularly on older stems, adding visual texture and character. With an upright, arching growth habit, it brings both structure and seasonal beauty to the landscape.
Ninebark grows best in a well-drained, fertile soil, however, they are very hardy and adaptable and will tolerate a wide range of soil types and conditions. Prune by thinning at the base to reduce mildew or full renewal by pruning down to ground in late winter.
This cultivar is often offered as a pruned or trained tree form. Prune by thinning or rejuvenate by pollarding.
