The Chicago Hardy Edible Fig reliably produces delicious, medium-sized figs from July through the light frosts of early fall, offering a long and rewarding harvest season with minimal effort.
Drought-tolerant, once established. Very desirable fruit make this plant worth the work to grow in our climate. Wood frame structures clad with clear plastic can be built to protect the figs that are planted in the ground. Figs planted in containers should be moved to a protected place for the winter.
