Collection: Plants: Dracaena

The Dracaena family consists of 170 different species, including Dracaena marginata, Dracaena compacta, Dracaena fragrans, Dracaena massangeana, and Dracaena braunii. These plants originated in Africa and Southeast Asia, with some being found in Central America. Many of these varieties are characterized as being tree-like, with a single cluster of leaves at the end of the trunk. Dracaena have ringed stalks formed from their leaves falling away as they grow. The top of the plant often resembles a crown.

Dracaena are our most popular easy plant for a good reason. The plant is tolerant of lower light and is also drought-resistant. We have seen these plants recover from long periods of neglect.

Most common names include the Corn Plant (Dracaena fragrans) and Dragon tree (Dracaena marginata).

Perhaps one of our favourite thing about these plants is that they come in every shape and size and take unique shapes in your space. While the most common form is staggered with multiple per pot, perfect for any corner, there are many twists, weaves, and other formats to try.

Recently Snake Plants were reclassified as Dracaena, but you'll find them in their own collection to do them justice.
