Hoary Vervain is a drought-tolerant perennial wildflower known for its dense spikes of vibrant lavender blooms atop slender, columnar stems. It's namesake are the fine hairs covering its gray-green leaves, stems and flowers, creating a soft texture. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it’s a valuable resource for pollinators like the Common Buckeye butterfly.
Native to Ontario.
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil, taking care not to overwater. Ideal for dry, sunny spots, it's well-suited for rock gardens, prairies, meadows, or naturalized landscapes. It will often self-seed to form colonies. Removing spent flower spikes will help prevent unwanted seeding.
