LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) is a growing and styling medium made from baked clay pebbles that are porous and absorb water, while still allowing excellent airflow to plant roots. It’s commonly used in semi-hydroponic setups because it helps prevent overwatering and supports strong root development.

A pre-washed 100% clay substrate that is clean, pH stable, and offers great aeration and drainage, these are suitable for:

Improving aeration – Mix into soil or coco coir to increase airflow and promote stronger roots. Blend at a ratio of 4 parts clay pebbles to 7 parts soil or coco coir to loosen structure and support healthier root growth.

Enhancing drainage – Retain some moisture while wicking excess water. Reduces surface evaporation.

Hydroponics & hydroculture – Ideal for flood and drain, deep water culture, and drip systems.

Our team also recommends using LECA when Top-dressing or Styling plants. Unlike moss it won't hold onto excess moisture (which can lead to rot). Perfect for making plants appear seamlessly potted into decorative planters of any size/shape.
