An upright perennial with long, leathery, dark green leaves that are glossy and held on sturdy stems. In early to mid-autumn, Monkshood produces striking deep blue, hooded flowers that add a bold splash of late-season colour to the garden. Strong structure and unique blooms make it a standout in mixed borders or woodland settings.
Grows well in full sun but requires sufficient water. Aconitum grows best where shade is provided in the hot hours of the afternoon. Relatively slow- growing, it won't need to be divided regularly. They are very resistant to pests and diseases. Beware of handling this plant as all parts are highly poisonous.
