Hoya is a genus of over 500 accepted species of tropical plants. Primarily native to Asian countries and Australia. Often called waxplant or waxing, the botanical name was coined by botanist Rober Brown in honour of his friend Thomas Hoy.

Hoyas grow both epiphytically on trees, in the ground, and some cases on rocks. They climb and trail as roots emerge from the vine. One of the reasons Hoyas are so collectible is that they have some unique leaf structures available for your home.
