Plants: Philodendron

There are currently over 400 species of Philodendron, but there are still many undescribed species. They make excellent houseplants and are easy to propagate through cuttings. The name of Philodendron is derived from the Greek words Philo (love) and dendron (tree).

Their leaves can range in size between species and life stages. Juvenile leaves can differ from adult leaves in both size and shape.

Most Philodendrons have both aerial and subterranean roots. Many climb trees in their surroundings to reach for the sun in nature. They can be trained to grow up your walls or vine down from your shelves at home.
