Aralias, also known as spikenard, typically belong to the family Araliaceae. Species formerly included in a more expansive view of the family now include additional genera such as Fatsia, Macropanax, Oreopanax, Panax, Polyscias (Ming Aralia), Pseudopanax, Schefflera (Umbrella Trees), and Tetrapanax. We also include the False Aralia (Dizygotheca) in our collection of Aralias as an adopted member of the family.
